Episode 42

Against All Odds

Published on: 18th August, 2024

Episode summary introduction:

Welcome to another episode of E-Walkabout.  This episode our theme comes from the song by Phil Collins “Against all odds". The song is part of the soundtrack from the 1984 movie of the same name.

There are so many times in our lives we don’t appreciate what we have until we walk away from it or lose it.  From these times regrets come to life and when they do we have an important decision to make. Do we get it back and if so how???

Topics discussed in this episode:

During this trek Maddog and TC challenge our listeners to look at lost chances as a positive thing and at times, timing considered, get them back:

  • Why  do we not know,  inherently, when we have a good thing?
  • When do we typically realize that regret has come to life?
  • Are there times when we have let something slip away from us that we can get it back?
  • Managing regret.
  • Being confident about speaking your mind in the moment.
  • Realizing what is important in life?
  • Always waiting to the point of no return when it comes to our health.
  • Failing to recognize that friends and family are more important than anything in life?
  • Seizing those opportunities before they slip away.

Walkabout takeaways:

Life has a habit of giving us second chances and sometimes more.  Tomorrow is never the time for today’s opportunities,  We were never meant to live a life of regret.

About the Podcast

Electronic Walkabout
Life has a habit of challenging us on a daily basis. These are not new challenges but often new to the people who face them. Why do we think we have to face these challenges alone? Oftentimes we set off on a journey to find those answers, that certain “je ne sais quoi” to move forward, in essence a walkabout. This is what E-Walkabout is all about. We share our journeys with you to lighten yours, with a little humour along the way.

TC lives in beautiful Chilliwack, BC, Canada with his wife, Janette, their children, grandchildren, and husky, Maddy. A small city surrounded by mountains and known for its outdoor recreation.

TC spent 27 years as a law enforcement officer where he saw the good, bad, and ugly—but mostly positive. He chose to share his experience with others and wrote his first book, Esprit De Corpse, to show the path well travelled for those just beginning in their careers.

He continued to write that resulted in St. Mike's Fortunes, a compilation of insightful, humorous, and philosophical tweets meant to share the most important lesson in life: “We all have the power to write our own fortunes.”
